About

Inspiring young minds through creative and interactive methods, we believe college-level science concepts can be grasped at a young age. Our goal is to instill a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world's diverse wildlife in future generations, fostering exploration, learning, and conservation efforts. Join us for group classes, science labs, guided nature hikes and more at Biology with Berta

How it all Started

Berta’s love for nature began at a young age, where she spent most of her time outdoors, exploring and getting to know the animals around her. Her early fascination with wildlife led her to dream of becoming a zookeeper, a passion that shaped her academic and professional journey. She worked in various roles that allowed her to connect with nature, including as a wildlife rehabilitation technician, a member of a raptor team at a local nature center, and a field trip guide in natural reserves. Through these roles she discovered her love for teaching kids about the wildlife in their own backyards. She firmly believes that college-level science concepts can be introduced at a young age through engaging and creative activities.

After graduating from Chico State, Berta moved back to the Monterey area and, in 2020, opened the doors to Biology with Berta. Biology with Berta has continued to grow year after year, with new classes and fun offerings, all based around the motto “Explore, Learn, conserve.”

  • Our programs cater to a wide range of age groups, from toddlers to teenagers. We offer specific classes and activities tailored to different age groups, ensuring that each child can explore and learn about biology in a way that is engaging and appropriate for their level of understanding.

All our instructors have backgrounds in science and education, and they are committed to providing an enriching and safe learning environment for all students.

To ensure a safe learning environment, each instructor is background checked and has completed basic CPR and first aid classes.
