Science Tuesdays

(Ages 5-12)

Fee: $200 per segment

Science Tuesdays Meteorology

  • Join us for a 5-week journey into the world of weather! In this exciting meteorology segment, students will explore the science behind the forces of nature that shape our daily lives. Each week, we’ll dive into a different aspect of weather, learning through hands-on experiments, interactive lessons, and real-world observation!

    Class Topics:

    • What is Weather?: Discover the basics of weather, including the atmosphere, temperature, and how weather affects us.

    • Weather Instruments and Observation: Learn how meteorologists use tools like thermometers, barometers, and more to predict weather.

    • The Water Cycle and Weather Patterns: Uncover the mysteries of how water moves through our world and creates weather patterns.

    • Severe Weather and Safety: Understand the dangers of hurricanes, tornadoes, and thunderstorms, and how to stay safe.

    • Weather and Climate in Our World: Explore the difference between weather and climate, and what it means for our planet's future.

  • Signing up for Earth Science class means you’re signing up to attend all 5 weeks of this Science Tuesday Segment.

    This segment will take place every Tuesday from January 21st to February 18th. When signing up, you have the choice between morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) classes.

    Fee: $200 (That comes out to $40 per class!)

Science Tuesdays Human Anatomy

  • Our 5-week human anatomy segment will take you on a journey inside the human body to discover the systems that keep us alive and well. Through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and fascinating discussions, you’ll explore each system and see how they work together to keep us healthy!

    Class Topics:

    • Integumentary and Nervous Systems: Learn about the skin, hair, and nails that protect us, along with the brain and nerves that control everything we do!

    • Digestive and Urinary Systems: Follow the path of food through the body, and see how our organs turn it into energy while removing waste.

    • Skeletal and Muscle Systems: Explore how bones give our bodies structure and how muscles help us move.

    • Circulatory and Respiratory Systems: Understand how the heart pumps blood, and how the lungs bring oxygen into the body.

    • Immune System: Dive into the body’s defenses and discover how we fight off germs and stay healthy!

  • Signing up for Human Impact class means you’re signing up to attend all 5 weeks of this Science Tuesday Segment.

    This segment will take place every Tuesday from February 25th to March 25th. When signing up, you have the choice between morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) classes.

Science Tuesdays Marine Science

  • Dive into the deep blue with our 5-week marine science segment and explore the wonders of the ocean. From the smallest plankton to the largest whales, you’ll learn about the diverse marine environments, the fascinating creatures that call them home, and how we can protect our oceans.

    Class Topics:

    • Marine Environments: Discover the different ocean zones and what makes the marine world so unique.

    • Ecosystems and Habitats: Explore the complex relationships between plants, animals, and their underwater homes.

    • Marine Life and Adaptations: Learn about the amazing adaptations that help sea creatures survive in their environments, from coral reefs to the deep sea.

    • What is a Shell For?: Uncover the secrets of shells and the creatures that make and use them for protection and survival.

    • Ocean Conservation and Human Impact: Understand how human actions affect the ocean and what we can do to protect marine life and habitats.

    This segment will take place every Tuesday from April 1st to May 6th. When signing up, you have the choice between morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) classes.

Forensics

  • This five-week middle school forensics course offers students an engaging introduction to the fascinating world of forensic science. Through a blend of interactive activities, case studies, and hands-on experiments, students will explore key topics such as crime scene management, DNA analysis, fingerprinting, and toxicology. Each week focuses on different aspects of forensics, encouraging critical thinking and observation skills while allowing students to investigate a mock crime scene and analyze evidence like real forensic experts. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in chemistry and biology forensic principles and techniques, fostering an appreciation for the role of science in solving crimes. We will also have a guest speaker come and talk about real-life crime fighting.

  • In this Botany class, students will gain an understanding of plant biology, focusing on topics such as plant anatomy, growth, photosynthesis, adaptations, and ecology. They will engage in hands-on activities like plant dissection, seed germination experiments, building their own herbarium, and ecology discussions. Students will explore plant diversity and conservation efforts, ultimately appreciating the critical role plants play in ecosystems and human life. By the end of the course, students will have developed practical skills and a deeper knowledge of botany that prepares them for further studies or careers in environmental science and conservation.

Insect Ecology

  • Welcome to "Insect Ecology" - an exciting journey into the fascinating world of insects! Through hands-on activities, captivating lessons, and outdoor explorations, students will learn about insect behavior, anatomy, life cycles, and interactions with other organisms. From pollination to decomposition, insects have a significant impact on our world, and this class will delve into their ecological importance. Vet Science

  • Delve into the captivating realm of Veterinary Science with our immersive course tailored for students in 5th grade and beyond. Through hands-on exploration, participants will navigate a comprehensive journey through essential middle school and high school biology standards.

    Our curriculum emphasizes practical learning, offering six hours dedicated to Biology Labs where students will gain proficiency in utilizing veterinary tools and instruments. From dissecting sheep's Pluck, Brain, and Cow Eye to mastering the assessment of animal vitals and conducting full-body injury checks, participants will develop a solid foundation in veterinary care.

    In this course we will learn about:

    • Veterinary tools and instruments

    • Anatomy exploration: Sheep's Pluck, Brain, and Cow Eye dissection

    • Assessment of animal vitals and full-body injury checks

    • Basic first aid skills

    • Building a First Aid Emergency Kit

    • Microscopic Lab: Blood typing, parasite identification, etc.

    • Taxonomy and breeds of animals

    • Animal physiology: Exploring body systems and the digestive system of cows

    • Pig Dissection

    • Vet Clinic Role Play simulation

Zoology

  • The five-week extreme weather course offers students an engaging exploration of various extreme weather events, including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and droughts. Through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and case studies, students will learn about the science behind weather systems, the impacts of climate change, and safety measures for different extreme weather scenarios. Each week focuses on a specific type of extreme weather, encouraging students to research, collaborate, and present their findings. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of extreme weather phenomena and the skills to develop preparedness and mitigation strategies for their communities.

  • Dissection labs provide a hands-on exploration of anatomy, offering students a tangible understanding of biological structures and functions. Young Scientists will engage with real specimens, fostering curiosity and critical thinking. These labs not only enhance biology comprehension but also cultivate observational skills and teamwork. Safety gear is provided, ensuring a safe and enriching learning experience. Dissection labs are integral to science education, igniting a passion for discovery and inspiring future scientists and healthcare professionals.

  • Small dissections are offered at a rate of $45.00. Large dissections are offered at $95.00.

With Berta's expert guidance, young adventurers will learn about the local ecosystem, identify different plants and animals, and uncover the secrets of the natural world. Each hike is an opportunity for hands-on learning and outdoor exploration, as Berta shares fascinating facts and engages children in fun activities that spark curiosity and wonder. Whether it's spotting birds, tracking animal prints, or simply taking in the beauty of the wilderness, these guided hikes promise an unforgettable experience that will inspire a lifelong love of nature.   • Want to sharpen your math skills and have fun at the same time? Join us every other week for an exciting math workshop designed for Middle and High school students! Led by the energetic and friendly Mr. Angelo DiMarco, these workshops explore topics like Algebra, Geometry, and more, breaking them down into fun, easy-to-understand lessons.

    And for those who want to take it to the next level, we offer an optional themed game night every Friday after the workshop. Each game night is based on the same topic we covered in class—perfect for putting your new skills to the test while having a blast with friends.

    And just like with our math workshops, you can join the optional themed game night every Friday following the class. Each game night ties into that week's science topic, giving you a chance to apply what you’ve learned in a fun, interactive way with friends.

  • Middle and High School students will end their week on a high note with our fun and interactive Friday Night Game Nights! Led by Mr. Angelo DiMarco, these game nights alternate between math and science themes each week, perfectly matching the topics covered in our workshops. The best part? The games are designed to reinforce what you’ve learned that week, making it the perfect mix of learning and fun!

    From math challenges that test your equation-solving skills to science-based puzzles and activities, these games bring classroom topics to life in a way that’s exciting and engaging. It’s all about learning, laughing, and competing with friends.
